Who we are
Defiant Weightloss is run by Defiant SEO Limited, [14 Towneley Parade, Longridge, Lancashire, United Kingdom, PR3 3HU], company number [14873051]. We are the data controller for the information you give us through the app. You can contact us about anything in this policy at phil@defiant-seo.com.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Our registration number is C2041577.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, when you joined, when you last used the app, and when you agreed to this policy.
- About you: the first name you give us, your age, sex, height, weight, goal weight and activity level.
- Your plan and progress: your meal plans, the meals you tick off, anything extra you log, your calorie target, weigh-ins, steps, water, cravings and your weekly check-ins.
- Your kitchen: your household size, how many children eat with you, your budget, supermarket and foods you avoid.
- Chats with the coach: the messages you type or speak to the AI coach.
- The fun stuff: your pets, eggs, stickers, clothes, rewards and gift codes you’ve used.
Your weight, eating and activity are health information, which the law treats as special category data. We only collect and store it because you give us your explicit consent when you create your account.
Why we use it
- To create your meal plans, shopping lists and calorie targets, and adjust them each week.
- To keep your progress safe and the same on every device you log in on.
- To send you the codes you need to log in.
- To keep the app running safely, for example limiting how many AI requests can be made each day.
Our legal basis is your explicit consent for your health information, and the contract between us (providing the app you signed up for) for everything else. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
The AI coach
Meal plans and coach replies are written by an AI service provided by Anthropic. When you ask for a plan or send the coach a message, we send Anthropic the details it needs to answer: your first name, the information about you and your kitchen listed above, today’s plan and what you’ve eaten, and your message. We do not send your email address. Anthropic processes this to produce a reply for us. The coach gives general food and weight loss guidance. It is not medical advice.
Where it’s kept and for how long
Your account and progress are stored on our website server, hosted by [hosting company] in [country]. Our host keeps backups for [number] days. The app also keeps a copy on your phone so it works without signal.
We keep your information until you delete your account. If you don’t use the app for [24 months], we will delete your account and tell you by email first. Log-in codes are deleted within a day of expiring.
Your rights
- See your data: in the app, go to Settings, then Download my data.
- Delete everything: in the app, go to Settings, then Delete my account. This removes your account and all your progress from our server straight away.
- Withdraw consent: you can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account.
- Correct your data: most of it you can change in the app yourself. For anything else, email us.
- Complain: if you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Who can use the app
Defiant Weightloss is for adults aged 18 and over. It is not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have or have had an eating disorder, or have a medical condition where your doctor manages your diet. Children can be included in family meal planning, but we never create diet plans for children.
Storage on your phone
The app saves your progress and settings in your phone’s browser storage so it works quickly and offline. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. [If your website uses analytics or other cookies, mention them here or link to your cookie policy.]
Keeping it secure
Everything travels over an encrypted connection. We never store passwords: you log in with a one-time code sent to your email. Log-in codes and session keys are stored in a scrambled (hashed) form.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
